Evelyn Abellera
Evelyn Millet Abellera, 59, of Kapaau, died June 14, 2022 at Kohala Hospital. Born Oct. 18, 1962, in Pozorrubio, Philippines, she was a housekeeper at the Hilton Waikoloa and worked at the Island Gourmet Deli and the Foodland Bakery.
Friends may visit at 8:30 a.m. July 30 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi for a partial viewing and 10 a.m. Mass with burial to follow in the Hawi County Cemetery and bentos to go. The family requests, casual attire and flowers are welcome.
She is survived by husband, Efren Abellera Sr.; sons, Efren (Mehana Kapeliela) Abellera Jr. and Zerex Abellera; daughter, Efrelyn (Sho Simundich) Abellera, all of Kapaau; brothers, Dominador (Apolonia) Millet of Kapaau, and Reynaldo Millet of Philippines; sisters, Medicima (Jun) Mendoza, Adelaida (Dante) Villa, Leticia (Manuel) Inocencio and Maribel (David) Nesting, all of Waimea; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.

Beatrice Baoy
Beatrice Leilani Baoy, 80, of Honaunau, died June 14, 2022 at her residence. Born May 12, 1942, in Kohala, she was a retired cook at Choice Mart, baker at the former Keauhou Beach Hotel, farm laborer for Uchida Farms, acting dietician manager at Keauhou Hillhaven, pantry worker at the former Kona Lagoon and Royal Waikoloan hotels, and a member of South Kona Assembly of God and Hope DiaMend Ministries.
Services will be held at a later date.
She is survived by sons, Clement (Bernie) Kaimiola, Charles (Melinda) Kaimiola, Colbert (Georgine) Kaimiola, all of Kailua-Kona, and Coburn (Helen) Kaimiola of Honaunau; daughters, Elizabeth Kaimiola of Honaunau, Rosanne Kaimiola of Kailua, Oahu and Cami Santiago of Honaunau; hanai daughters, Chris Kawaauhau and Eldaine Barrawis, both of Honaunau; 23 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brother, Joseph Baoy of Waiane, Oahu; sisters-in-law, Sarah Baoy of Kahaluu, Kaneohe, Oahu, Linda Baoy of Maui and Estella Baoy of Honaunau; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Linda Keiko Traya,77, of Hawi, died June 28, 2022 at Kona Community Hospital. Born Sept. 11, 1944, in Lanai City, Lanai, she was an office manager at Especially for You clothing store.

She is survived by sons, Matthew (Laurie) Traya and Roger (Maria) Bandonill, all of Mililani, Oahu; hanai son, Ivan (Mindy) Marfil of Virginia Beach, Virginia; daughter, Michele (Gino) Amar of Hawi; sister, Jean Chun of Halekoa; brother, Minoru Kamisato of Wheatridge, Colorado; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jonathan Russel Holmes, 64, of Mountain View, died July 12, 2022, at Pohai Malama in Hilo. Born in 1957 in New York, he worked for the County of Hawaii Planning Department.

Lola Jean Pua, 72, of Holualoa, died June 1, 2022 at Kona Community Hospital. Born May 21, 1950, in Kealakekua, she was a pastry chef at the Hilton Waikoloa Hotel and a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church.

Kiyoko Sakai
Kiyoko Sakai, 95, of Hilo, died June 17, 2022, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center in Hilo. Born June 15, 1927, in Olaa (Keaau), she was the former co-owner and manager of Hilo Puanani Flower Shop, co-proprietress of “Aqua &Aviary Hobbyist” (a.k.a. “Sakai Pet Shop”), and member of Taishoji Soto Mission in Hilo.
Private services held. No flowers or koden (monetary offerings).
She is survived by daughter, Toni Sakai-Kawada of Hilo; son-in-law, Rogers Uchima of Hilo; brothers-in-law, Richard (Elizabeth) Sakai of Hilo and Noble (Fusae) Sakai of Texas; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins.
